Additional Information

– A. Camus : n° 399; – Sub-genus Quercus, section Lobatae, Series Erythromexicanae, Group Acutifoliae; – For some Mexican Authors (Silvia Romero Rangel, 2006), as well for Govaerts 2013, this species is a synonym of Q.xalapensis . But for S. Valencia 2016 it is a true species which differs from Q. xalapensis which has acorns maturing in 2 years, a tawny cupule more tomentose, and foliar base rounded or obtuse ; – Possible confusion with Q. sartorii which has leaves only slightly shiny obove, and the teeth located in the distal half or 2/3 of the blade. – Differs from Q. meavei which has acorns maturing in 2 years, more secondary veins (13-18) impressed above.
