acorn ovoid, 2-3 cm long, 1.5-2 wide; apex mucronate; stalk 1 cm long; cup conical enclosing 1/3 of the nut, with 8-10 pale yellow tomentose concentric rings, denticulate at rim; maturing in 1 year;
