4-15 x 2.5-5 cm; thin but leathery; lanceolate to oval-lanceolate, seldom oval; apex acuminate (cuspid 0.5-1 cm long); base rounded or attenuate; margin slightly revolute, entire or remotely serrulate near apex; hairless, shiny above; paler beneath with scattered stellate silky tomentum, sometimes glabrous; 6-12 pairs of secondary veins, sunken above, more or less raised beneath, curved near limb margin, forming an angle of 45-60° with the midrib; slender petiole 1-2 cm long, sulcate above;

Flowers

flowering irregularly; male catkins 4-6 cm, with numerous flowers; male flowers singly to 3 together, perianth tomentose 5-6-lobed, 5-7 stamens; female inflorescence 1-2 cm, with 2-5 flowers, densely tomentose; pistillate flowers tomentose, ovary ovoid or globose, 3-4 styles 1 mm long;

Fruits

acorn ovoid, conical or subglobose, 1-2 cm long, silky, apiculate; base rounded; cup flat, pubescent, 5-6 concentric, denticulate, silky rings, with thin wall;
